Browsing the Browsers II

I wrote about my search for a new browser a few days ago. To recap: I had been using Internet Explorer 7, which came with a new computer several months ago, longer than it was particularly useful for web surfing because it had a convenient way of magnifying web pages that worked well for my lone, pitiful peeper. In recent days, that advantage just was not enough to keep using IE 7, so I downloaded IE 9. The new IE does not have as convenient a magnifying feature as IE 9, so there was no point in using the subpar browser at all. So I started road testing others.

It appeared that neither Firefox or Chrome had everything I wanted, particularly when it came to permanent magnification so I do not have to adjust for every page I visit. I have been mostly using Chrome because it is bare bones and fast, but I am still open to any advantage any browser might have to put it over the top. In case you were losing sleep over my quest, I have found it. There is a factor that has put chrome over the top.

Lo and behold, you can adjust the magnification permanently with Chrome. I thought there was only the quickie adjust the current page option right up front on the Tools button, but under Options, there is a way to make the magnification permanent. So Chrome winds up the fastest browser with exactly the feature I was looking for as a bonus. I subsequently discovered a high contrast color scheme to install to make reading even easier. So Chrome is three for three, which makes it my new, permanent browser.
