um....what didn't you understand? There was FUD about android being fragmeneted, yet two releases make up 90% of the install base. Ok, what stats would you like to deal from? otherwise stop running your jib when your obviously just regurgitating what you read here.
Did you read what I actually wrote? Your statistics are not complete. And then there is the fact that Google considers fragmentation to be a major problem.
More importantly, fragmentation is not only about OS version. It's also about UI and hardware features.

Here is my guess... I recently setup mac os x mobile sync for my laptop/desktop combination and it is sheer genius.
It basically gives you the same desktop on all your machines and synchronizes your laptop home directory w/ a set up scripts that run on login/logout and background
The problem w/ the setup is it is really meant for corporate farms as you need to set a slew of things up working properly (ldap, kerberos) to do properly. My guess is they are going to revamp the scripts and have an easy setup so people can "synchronize" on the fly btwn different machines so all accounts look exactly the same (but not using afs). This will be a mobile user for desktop and laptop configurations.. it'll waste some space but hard drives are cheap and everyone is "synced"
this will be the new and improved "sync" ... btw if this isn't what they are going to do i still recommend taking a look at mac os x's mobile user configurations as it really is brilliant (as it also has the side effect of auto-backing up your laptop to a different machine))

I'm looking forward to the final release of the iPhone (or whatever it will be called), but not the reaction on the internet. People have been wanting this for so long, that unless it comes out with as good (better?) of video as the iPod, half a year on a single charge battery life, 7 MP camera, unrestricted song playing (hahahaha), GPS, web browsing to match computers, and, I dunno, let's say a it can build you a small, live puppy out of grass, people are going to be disappointed.
Edit: congrats prady16

Nice! I saw a Slightly Stoopid concert when they were up at one of the casinos here in Shreveport, Louisiana.
They are hitting up a few places in Texas soon. Might want to check it out.

i never really bothered about power consumption when choosing a computer ,
for me other things had been far more important , like expandability , and a mini G4 is slow compared to a G5
and for the price of a early intel mini 1.5/ 1.66 /1.83 core duo with the poxy onboard intel gma 950 , a g5 is a lot cheaper most times , and if Power consumption is important he could buy a MSI wind netbook and hackintosh it as its easy ,which offers the same performance really and is using even less power , so Power consumption is not worth to mention really

Based on murmurings and mooings on the pro sites, I reckon Apple will lose some customers to Avid, if they had originally come from Avid some time in the last 10 years. They're talking about going back to Avid, not to Avid.
I also reckon every kid who has used iMovie in the last few years will start using FCP X in about July. This is the next generation of video editors, and they will far outnumber Avid users. They will be making movies for web distribution. They will be flooding the film schools. They will also have the mad skillz (look at me, sounding like a teenager :D) to turn things over really quickly, something which is appreciated in today's editing environment.
Apple has built FCP X for people who have never used film and probably never will so the metaphor needed to go. Bye-bye bins, hello "smart folders". And a big hello to the do-deca-core, 8TB, 32GB Mac Pro everyone can now justify purchasing.

what would be the big differences with the current iphone?
based on the rumors i saw, the updated version will only show incremental borderline irrelevant improvements?
am I missing something?

Hey-
Probably s stupid question, but with all the members here... and, what, 300 apple stores, no one has seen what is in the back rooms or anything of the apple stores?
They are shipped black wrapped, and the manager of the store has to authorize their being opened. So, generally, it's hard to get a leak that way.

My guess is .5 will be released when they are good a ready. Vista will be sucking the air out of the room for a couple months so Leopard would be lost in the heavy panting.
I don't know what .5 will bring (other then the announced features) but with all the work Apple did to get it on Intel I wouldn't be surprised to see a portable version of the OS on a cell phone (with all the pertinent apps) or ipod like device as well as portable home folders.
Anyone else remember when w95 was released? It took MS almost a year to start generating real sales. Most of that was due to the learning curve of the interface fears. Vista is a much larger leap GUI-wise and the new Office is even a larger jump. It is going to take a few months maybe a year before we see large Vista sales...prime time to convert people to something else.

I agree with you here, I want to order a macbook so bad, but the fact of having shared graphics kills me. I work with photoshop and I would like to have a dedicated graphics card, yet a small screen for travel. I'll buy an external lcd when I need a large screen at home or use my 20" imac.
All i want is a smaller MBP.
15 inches is much too big IMO, at least for my needs.
I will be ready to buy around the end of Feb.
Hopefully by then I'll have a new release to spend $$ on.

Well now we know what the 2012 Global Best selling Biography will be.Maybe not. Google may authorize free biographies of Sergei and Larry and Eric (ad supported of course) and the histories of Motorola, HTC, etc... ...and claim greater market share for the total.

Yeah, why dont you download it, then say negative things.
You can choose where the occurence happened, no matter where you are. So if at home you have crappy quality, you can later submit the report from somewhere else using the map.
I do not have an iPhone yet. I choose to have consistent service everywhere. If iPhone was on Verizon, then people could just send the report where and when the occurance happened instead of waiting for service else where.
This application must be a response to recent Verizon advertising.

Are people as outraged by this leak as I am? I can't believe it. He just stole Steve's thunder at a later secret event. This will end up costing Apple the element of surprise and the impact of a special Steve announcement. We've got to punish Lion's Gate somehow. We need to boycott all of their films and show that they cannot mess with Apple. The mothership is under attack! Who's with me?
I'm going to smile and assume this is sarcasm and a joke :)
If it's not...wow.

One more time: yes, I think the guy should have stopped, but I think she bears as much blame as she does. He tried to diffuse a hostile situation by leaving; her actions indicated that she insisted it continue. You have no idea what transpired.

Oh, you forgot scratch proof. :D
Don't ask for miracles.
I can't believe the excitment here over Apple actually using a high quality material. But it IS Apple we are talking about here:rolleyes:
Big whoop, I have a radio from the late 1970s all made of magnesium, a laptop all made of magnesium and a few audio players/recorders some dating from the mid 90s all made of magnesium. If you're looking for a way to flame me for my comment and I know some will because of my critisisims over the angel called Apple, here is a clue, they are all Made in Japan.
Yeah well I had a laptop made out cast iron from Guatemala, so there.

Um... this has been done before.
Not in a laptop, no, but I definitely remember keyboards where you could buy the bottom "shell" and the key "insert" boards separately. There was a regular QWERTY keyboard, and then for gamers, special key layouts suited to whatever game you were playing.
(pauses to do a websearch)
Ideazon's Zboard, that's the one. www.ideazon.com
Thats just an overlay, thats not exactly what this patent is saying. Its more like something like this keyboard: ErgoDex (http://www.ergodex.com/mainpage.htm) where you can rearrange a set of keys anywhich way you want on the keyboard. So, you cam make a regular QWERTY keyboard or a WQERTY keyboard or just have all the letters go around in a circle. Thats more of what they are talking about in this patent.
